PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP – 16 JUNE: 09.00 – 13.00
UNCERTAINTIES OF METER VERIFICATION AND WATER BALANCING
Sponsored by RPS Water

The theme of the workshop is to address uncertainties of meter verification and water balancing across the distribution network, including water into supply and zonal balancing.
Delegates are invited to bring flow meter data from their own utilities to work with software for analysing uncertainties in the data – state of the art software will be provided at the workshop
Workshop Programme:
08.30 – 09.00: Delegate registration
09.00 – 10.00: Presentation on:
- Tools and techniques for on site meter verification
- Questioning existing standards for accuracy
10.00 – 10.30: Presentation on:
- Water balancing uncertainties and techniques for analysing them
10.30 – 11.00: Refreshment break
11.00 – 11.30: Break into small delegate groups:
- Demonstration of software for meter verification, flow measurement and leakage management
11.30 – 12.30: Break into Working Groups
- Using the software and delegates’ own data to analyse their network anomalies, meter and balancing problems
- Case study feedback from delegates who have used the software to analyse their meter and balancing errors
12.30 – 13.00: Case study feedback on analysing delegates’ data
The workshop facilitators and presenters include Dr Richard Furness, who has more than 30 years of experience of working on both the theoretical and practical side of flow metering, with particular experience in traceability and uncertainty assessment of flow metering.
Arthur Arscott is also a well-recognised industry figure of many years standing, having been Regional Leakage Manager at South West Water, and, more recently, working on software development for RPS Water – including software for meter verification, leakage analysis and an innovative flow measurement technology – the Accuflow.
